"If we spend too much time stuck in the past, or worrying about the future, we may not be in right headspace to notice and enjoy the good things that are happening right in front of us."
We can all agree that it's been a full-on year so far, and that a lot of things have changed. One thing I think we can all relate to, is that our expectations for this year may no longer be realistic. The goal posts have shifted for almost everyone — some more than others.
It’s important we realise this, and take it easy on ourselves if we don’t meet some of our goals. Although this is particularly important at the moment, given what’s happening in New Zealand and around the world, it’s something to remember every year, and every day.
If we’re too harsh on ourselves, the weight of our own disappointment can pull us down, and really impact our day-to-day lives. If we spend too much time stuck in the past, or worrying about the future, we may not be in the right headspace to notice and enjoy the good things that are happening right in front of us.
In saying that, we know that it only takes a few good moments to make a great day. Whether it be someone opening a door for you, or even something as simple as a smile from a stranger. It’s these little moments of joy that we often overlook if our minds are elsewhere.
Our friendly, supportive and professional counsellors are always ready to help New Zealanders start appreciating the good moments in their day. If we can start recognising these moments, we’ll start having great days, and if we have enough great days, we’ll live amazing lives.
That’s why OCP is campaigning to remind New Zealanders that: Good Days Are More Common Than You Think .
We're really getting behind this campaign, and putting in a lot of effort to get this message to as many New Zealanders as we can. So, you may see some billboards around, our new video, and a series of social media posts. To stay in the loop with our campaign, and other updates, you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
We've also developed some refreshed posters and brochures to reflect this campaign, and we're confident they'll provide a great source of encouragement for New Zealanders to take that first step, and seek support. So, if see some around at your workplace or elsewhere, be sure to grab one and have a read.
As always, OCP is here to help you get started. We’re always looking for new ways to help New Zealanders reach their potential, and to encourage them in reaching out for that support. To book a session with your preferred counsellor, head to ocp.co.nz/book or call us on 0800 377 990. Other than that, we hope you have a great day, with many more to come.
